BRIEF HISTORY OF PEKI SHTS
INTRODUCTION
Peki Senior High Technical School otherwise called PESTECH for short is a co-educational Government assisted Senor High Technical Institution with facilities for boarding and day students.
The school was established in January 1991 as a result of the New Educational Reform Program which converted the then Peki Experimental Junior Secondary School into a Secondary Technical School, now a Senior High Technical School.
PROFILE OF PEKI SENIOR HIGH TECHNICAL SCHOOL (PESTECH)
The foundation for the building of our school was laid in 1947 to commemorate the Centenary celebration of the E P Church in Peki. The school finally took off as a Senior Girls School in 1947 with the aim of training Middle School Leavers (Women) to enter life as bread winners and enlightened housewives. The school existed in this state for nearly 12 years.
In 1961 the famous Peki Wudome Girls School admitted the first batch of boys, thus making it a Mixed Middle School. Later the Experimental Junior Secondary School (JSS), which was also established at Peki Avetile in 1977, was moved to co-exist with the then Peki Wudome Mixed School for lack of infrastructure. Both institutions co-existed until the Middle School system was phased out in 1987.
However, the experimental Junior Secondary School (JSS) continued up to 1989 when it was also phased out. Between 1989 and 1990, the compound became dormant as regards school activities.
In January, 1991, some of the former Experimental Junior Secondary Schools in the country were converted into Senior Secondary Technical Schools and luckily the Peki Wudome Experimental School was also chosen as one of them, hence the establishment of Peki Secondary Technical School (PESTECH) now called Peki Senior Hight Technical School.
